Milwaukee’s Sex Trafficking Epidemic and the Impact on Our Youth

Milwaukee is known nationally as a top 5 hub for trafficking as well as being identified as the “Harvard for Pimps.” Why is that? Join us for this informative discussion and learn how youth in our community are impacted by sex trafficking and exploitation, what the risk factors are and what’s being done on a statewide level. Pathfinders will also compare and contrast their sex trafficking statistics with a report recently released by the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Police Department, which will highlight important differences.

The State of Youth Homelessness

People have a common perception of what homelessness looks like, which is often why youth homelessness is invisible.Would you be surprised that hundreds of Milwaukee’s youth are without a home each night? Did you know that there are approximately 4,500 students in the Milwaukee Public Schools’ Homeless Education Program? Other studies indicate that there are about 15,000 youth aged 25 and under in Milwaukee who are homeless annually.

Pathfinders has been working with youth experiencing housing instability, crisis and homelessness for nearly 50 years. Join us for this informative discussion and learn why youth homelessness is so invisible, what the risk factors are that make them vulnerable and what Pathfinders is doing to serve our youth.
